If you have been struggling with debt there is one thing that you must get under control….your spending habits.

The #1 thing you need to learn is how to save more money. We will discuss ways to increase your savings in this short guide.

People have a tendency to buy things that they can’t afford. They live way beyond their means and find themselves living paycheck to paycheck. While it is nice to own some of the finer things in life, we must plan out our large purchases and set a budget to live on every month.

With a set budget you can look at your income and expenses at a glance and see what money is available for those extra ‘fun’ purchases.

Try and put a set amount of money in savings every single month. Even if it is $50, over the course of the year that will add up to $600. You can then take that money and invest it.

Consider opening a high interest bearing checking or savings account to take advantage of higher interest rates. You can also sell some of your unwanted and unused personal merchandise in the paper or online to add to your savings.

If you can do without a newer car you can always sell the one you have and take that monthly payment and stick it into savings.

There are always ways to save more money…you just have to look around you and be realistic about what is necessary.
